I pulled into a parking space at Wal-mart. An elderly lady–more elderly than I–stood next to her open trunk and was laboriously lifting her purchases from her shopping cart and placing them into her trunk. Just as I swung open my door, another lady appeared. She was on her way into the store, but she stopped to offer the elderly lady assistance.

"And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins." Matthew 1:21 (NKJV)
No study of the names of God could be complete without addressing the name of Jesus. The name Jesus is so familiar to us that it's difficult to imagine a time when it wasn't a part of our vocabulary. But despite its familiarity, there's meaning in this name that's not so obvious on the surface.

On a recent trip to Washington DC, I was reminded of the unique power of words well spoken or well written when I visited the Lincoln memorial along with my wife and children. After viewing Lincoln's immense, gaunt figure, I read his speeches which were engraved in the walls on either side of the carving of the 16th American president.

Tim Burton's fantasy film, Alice in Wonderland, hits theaters today, March 5, 2010. I was recently browsing the internet and ran across this interesting and brilliant article by Lane Palmer revealing how our spiritual walk with Jesus Christ is a real adventure in a real wonderland.
"There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter...Which luckily I am." -The Mad Hatter

Anyone who knows me knows that once I see a movie one time, I have no desire to see it again. However, earlier this week, I watched "The Nativity Story" movie with my family. I had seen this movie once before, but I decided to watch it again.
In my opinion, this film is one of the best films ever made about the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It blessed my heart all over again in so many ways. As I was watching this film, God pointed out three important ways that He works in people's lives to bring about His will. Allow me to share those with you.

Joy is a deep feeling of peace that many people desire but do not understand fully how to get.
Many believe that one of the effects of joy is being able to live a care-free life. Some say joy is found in having solid relationships. Still others express that joy is simply enjoying the here and now with no concern for the future.

Here's a post from the beginning of Just Jesus: The Greatest Things Ever Said About the Greatest Man Who Ever Lived that will give you a little background information about the book:
It is for sure that the main thing that matters in life, is whether or not one has a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. To borrow biblical terminology, what really matters is: “What think ye of Christ, whose Son is He?”
This I know, anyone who has met this Man along the tragic road of life, and has received Him as their personal Saviour has never been the same. Not only do I know this from observing the lives of others who have believed on Jesus Christ, but I know this from personal experience as well. On December 19, 1979, I had the priviledge and joy of meeting the Man named Jesus Christ in my Air Force dorm room at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. My wretched life was immediately and dramatically changed over night. At the risk of sounding trite, I have never been the same.

Though no one is certain of the religious beliefs of the French emperor Napoleon Bonaprte, and while on many occasions he criticized organized religion, Napoleon seemed to have a strong disposition toward the Person of Jesus Christ. This is evidenced by the many eloquent and persuasive statements about the Messiah that are attributed to him. Read below:
The nature of Christ’s existence is mysterious, I admit; but this mystery meets the wants of man. Reject it and the world is an explicable riddle; believe it, and the history of our race is satisfactorily explained.

I know men, and I tell you that Jesus is not a man. Superficial minds see a resemblance between Christ and the founders of empires, and the gods of other religions, that resemblance does not exist. There is between Christianity and other religions, the distance of infinity.
